Frequently Asked Questions:

Does my daughter have to be a member of a Girl Scout troop to attend Day Camp?

No--There are many pathways for a girl to travel in the world of Girl Scouts.  Some girls love being part of a troop, some want to travel the world, some to only take part in programs and activities--and some want to go to camp.  Once a girl is a registered Girl Scout, she can choose to take part in as many, or as few, Girl Scouting options that interest her.

Any girl that wants to come to camp is welcome, even if she has no previous experience with Girl Scouts.  Every girl that attends camp must register as a Girl Scout (there is an additional $25 annual registration fee that can be included with camp registration.)  Some girls choose to never join troops, sometimes there are troops that form that only meet between certain sports seasons--Girl Scouts is flexible.

Sometimes we have girls that aren't sure if they want to join Girl Scouts--Day Camp is a perfect way to try it out without making a commitment. However, Day Camp is also a great way to meet Girl Scouts and sometimes girls join their new friends in troops when school starts up in the fall.

What steps do you take to keep my child safe at camp?

Like all Girl Scout leaders, we rely upon carefully written guidelines that help us assess our program and activities to keep our campers safe and healthy at camp.  All of our adult volunteers have undergone a background check and interview process before being invited to join our camp staff.  During camp, each unit has two screened adult leaders for each unit of approximately 10-12 girls.  In the event a girl does become injured, we have several trained First Aiders on site at all times during camp.  We also have a registered lifeguard on staff to supervise girls in activities in or near the creek.

If you have specific safety concerns, feel free to contact us. You can also review the GSWW Safety Checkpoints.
